Christian Counseling - Four Useful WebsitesThe internet now offers a vast array of resources for Christian counselors and those seeking counseling services. Here is a personal selection of four that excel. Christian Counseling is a website from Dr Brian Campbell of the New Life Christian Counseling Center in Lake Mary, Florida. It is a massive site. The Top Links page alone offers more than two dozen categories, from Abuse and Bullying to Pornography Addiction and Single Parenting. There is guidance on finding a counselor, a list of selected counseling centers, a selection of prayers, audio files on "Overcoming Anxiety" and "Overcoming Depression" and much more. The Center for Christian Counseling is a Texas business. Its website is largely about its services and its staff, but it also offers more. The section on marriage contains a summary of "Marital Truths" - sample: You didn't agree to marry with the expectation of change; God is much less concerned about your comfort than you are; Selfishness is the Number One enemy of good marriages; Marriage is proof that God has a sense of humor - along with portraits of godly husbands and wives. Similarly, the parenting section contains much good (and godly) advice. There are twenty articles, such as "Why Biblical Counseling Works and NOTHING Else Does" and there is also a selection of Scripture readings. Christian Counseling & Educational Services is based in Pennsylvania. Again, its website is primarily devoted to promoting its varied services. However, it also provides much more, in its Resources section. Of particular note are its weekly devotionals, and you can register to receive these by email. There are many articles, such as "Dealing with Discouragement" and "What Do You Know About Sexual Addiction." It also offers computer wallpaper, a selection of church resources and a list of recommended reading. Dove Christian Counseling Center provides fee-based online (via email) or telephone counseling services. Most of the website is given over to promoting this. But over on the left of the home page is a large number of links to extremely useful short articles. These offer advice on topics that run from abused women, abused men, abused ministers' wives (who are offered free counseling services), to spiritual concerns, step-parenting and when a pet dies. It is all concise, practical, biblical and full of common sense. March 20th, 2009 |
