Going to a marriage counselor is a very big step, for Christians and non-Christians alike. Fortunately for Christians, there is a network of Christian counselors who can help. Here is a selection of websites with further information on Christian marriage counseling.
All About Life Challenges is recommended for a huge amount of practical information on marriage and the family, including several pages on Christian Marriage Counseling. One article is titled "What can I expect during marriage counseling?" and another is "Why is Christian pre-marital counseling so important?" There are also book recommendations. Sample advice: "The need for marital counseling cannot be emphasized enough, even for Christians, because we live in a world that often encourages the destruction of marriage. As Christians, we additionally recognize the presence of an enemy, on the prowl to devour (1 Peter 5:8) marriages."
Growthtrac has its mission "to strengthen marriages by providing life-changing, Christ-centered resources through innovative online media." It is a vast site, with hundreds of pages in many categories. Pastoral Christian marriage counselors tend to be ordained ministers who went to graduate school."
